Chinese Proverb
We live in an arid environment and need to be mindful of our water use. Historically, we use 3x as much water during the summer (irrigation) months. Let's save water and money by BEING WATERWISE! This 24-page Booklet describes how to conserve water indoors and out.
Our goal is to reduce our daily water use to less than 100 gallons per person per day.
Current estimates are that we use - on average - 154 gallons per person per day (2019).
Being smart about our summer water use (drip irrigation, rain barrels, and planting native and drought-tolerant species) can help us achieve this goal - beautifully and sustainably.
We can do this - let's be WaterWise, Helena!
In 2021, Helena adopted a 'Waste Reduction Resolution' setting a goal of reducing the amount of waste Helena sends to the landfill by
50% by 2040 with an interim goal of
35% reduction by 2030.
We can do this by following the Waste Reduction Hierarchy by:
Re-thinking our consumption
Refuse - Reduce - Reuse - Repair - Recycle - Rot
